Founded in 2016 by Dr. Ying Ying Liu, LumiVoce has pioneered an innovative model that blends Aesthetic Education (AE) with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), using music and the arts to foster biodiversity awareness and mental well-being among children. Over the past decade, the foundation has reached more than 32,000 students, educators, and families across 270+ schools and institutions, working alongside 135+ artists and wildlife experts to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

Opening the evening, Board Co-Chair Ms. Clarie Lo highlighted the urgent need for children to reconnect with nature in an increasingly high-pressure urban environment. Underscoring that such connection is not a luxury, but essential to fostering emotional balance and self-awareness. Building on this, Dr. Ying Ying Liu reaffirmed the foundation's guiding philosophy: "LumiVoce empowers young people to connect deeply with life: to listen to the sounds of the Earth and recognize that all life deserves to thrive." Against the reality of a 73% decline in wildlife population size over the past 50 years and that 55% of global GDP depends on nature, the evening positioned LumiVoce's work as both timely and necessary: transforming environmental anxiety into passionate leadership.

This vision was brought vividly to life through performances. A children's choir from Shrewsbury International School of Hong Kong opened with "I Am the Earth," followed by Dr. Liu's original conservation music video, "An Ancient Whisper," which evoked the fragile beauty of marine ecosystems and demonstrated how the arts can inspire deep emotional connection and collective responsibility.

Echoing these themes, keynote speakers reinforced how LumiVoce's mission aligns with broader societal priorities. Notably, the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, said that nurturing a love for nature and biodiversity through arts and education is key to building a sustainable future. He highlighted the urgency of tackling climate change and biodiversity loss, stressing that development and environmental conservation can go hand in hand. Mr Chan noted Hong Kong's commitment through its Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2035 and its pursuit of carbon neutrality. He praised the work of the Lumivoce Foundation, and expressed hope that it will continue to expand its programs, strengthen partnerships and inspire more young people to protect the remarkable biodiversity of the planet.

Complementing this, Ms. Agnes Chan, Chairwoman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, reinforced that biodiversity and climate resilience are central to long-term economic stability, calling for deeper collaboration across sectors to drive meaningful change.

From the private sector, Mr. Gu, Chairman of China Kaihua Environmental Protection Equipment Group Co., Ltd., extended this narrative further, emphasizing that true sustainability is rooted not only in technological advancement, but in the transmission of values through education, culture, and the arts.

The tangible impact of this collective vision was reflected in voices from the classroom. Mr. Gavin Massingham of S.K.H. Yan Laap Memorial Primary School highlighted the inclusivity and adaptability of LumiVoce's programs across diverse student communities, while student speaker Tay Oh from ESF West Island School shared a personal journey of growth, demonstrating how a deeper connection with nature can inspire more conscious, compassionate leadership.
