Miu Miu Stirs the Scene by Championing Female Visionaries
Luxury fashion pioneer Miu Miu continues disrupting the fashion and film world through its groundbreaking Women’s Tales program. While most major brands rely on traditional filmmaking models favoring male creators, Miu Miu bucks the trend by providing advancement opportunities and a platform for talented women directors.
Marking its 12th year at the Venice Film Festival, Women's Tales spotlights Miu Miu's commitment to gender equality with their two latest additions to the series this year: "Stane" by Alamat Kusijanović and "EYE TWO TIMES MOUTH" by Lila Avilés, which premiered earlier this year in February. The program's latest selections offer intimate glimpses into women pursuing passions despite barriers.

By commissioning over 26 shorts since 2011, Women’s Tales has emerged as an incubator for directorial talent and women in film. But its impact reaches beyond supporting women directors - it's presenting a new model for the industry.
“We aim to guide the program’s growth and expand its reach,” stated acclaimed director Ava DuVernay, part of the Women's Tales Committee. This group, featuring industry leaders like Maggie Gyllenhaal and Catherine Martin, provides female perspectives on running the initiative. DuVernay recognizes the ripple effect of Women's Tales for women empowerment, noting how each film inspires more women to bring their visions to screens worldwide and showcases that talent can come in all forms, regardless of their background or gender identity.
Founder Miuccia Prada also remarked that Women’s Tales facilitates "a conversation on the world of femininity and vanity today. A conversation with women about women.” This ethos has shaped Miu Miu's culture, allowing the brand to unleash the full potential of female employees and contribute to the global conversation on women empowerment.

The Women’s Tales film program demonstrates that eliminating barriers for women creates an inclusive environment where creativity and business can thrive together. Miu Miu offers their disruptive approach as an alternative model for companies aiming to enact meaningful change and find hidden voices to elevate.
As the program enters its next chapter, its impact continues through inspiring the future generation of women shaping fashion, film, and beyond.
