[Young Trailblazers] Tiffany Yue: Hong Kong's Soaring Long Jumper

The 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games commenced over the weekend with Chinese rowers Zou Jiaqi and Qiu Xiuping already claiming the first gold medals in record-setting fashion in the lightweight double sculls finals.<figure class="image image_resized" style="width:75%;"><img src="https://prd-cdn.jessicahk.com/Zou_Jiaqi_and_Qiu_Xiuping_234629022e.jpg" alt="Zou Jiaqi and Qiu Xiuping.jpg"></figure>Their triumphant time of 7:06 set the tone for more exciting performances to come as the Games progress. Now, the spotlight shifts to several standout female athletes who are also poised to make their mark. In swimming, all eyes are on Chinese superstar Zhang Yufei, whose stacked schedule and ambition to claim MVP glory promises edge-of-seat action.<figure class="image image_resized" style="width:75%;"><img src="https://prd-cdn.jessicahk.com/Zhang_Yufei_9901e73033.jpeg" alt="Zhang Yufei.jpeg"></figure>With a tally of thirty-one medals across major international competitions, she has firmly established herself as one of the most promising talents in the sport. Zhang will contest four different events, including the 50m and 100m butterfly, as she aims to dominate in the pool. Her spectacular accomplishments at the highest levels of swimming competitions have cemented her place among the current and future stars of the sport.&nbsp; Joining Zhang in the pool will be fan favorite Ikee Rikako, Japan's tenacious swimming icon looking to make an inspiring comeback after beating leukemia.<figure class="image image_resized" style="width:75%;"><img src="https://prd-cdn.jessicahk.com/Rikako_Ikee_7662d7834d.webp" alt="Rikako-Ikee.webp"></figure>Having once stood atop the podium in Jakarta and won a stunning 6 gold medals and the MVP title in 2018, the 24-year old now fights to regain her winning form in Hangzhou after defiantly overcoming cancer and returning to compete in 2021 including the Tokyo Olympics. On the diving platforms, Malaysian diving queen Pandelela Rinong Pamg is gearing up for redemption after a difficult 2022 suffering from injuries and illness.<figure class="image image_resized" style="width:75%;"><img src="https://prd-cdn.jessicahk.com/Pandelela_Rinong_Pamg_f9725dd818.jpg" alt="Pandelela Rinong Pamg.jpg"></figure>The veteran champion, renowned for her grace under pressure, will be keen to reclaim her title as one of the world's best after a surprising 24th place finish at the World Championships - all eyes will be on her. In skateboarding, 15-year old Japanese phenom Kusaki Hinano is set to make her senior debut for Japan on the back of strong showings at the Olympic qualifiers so far.<figure class="image image_resized" style="width:75%;"><img src="https://prd-cdn.jessicahk.com/Kusaki_Hinano_a88553ad4e.jpg" alt="Kusaki Hinano.jpg"></figure>Displaying enormous promise, the teen prodigy finished 4th in both events with her effortless style.
